Insurance stuff

A friend of mine broke down yesterday (on his bike); about 2 hrs from his home. He sat on the side of the road from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM when a friend with a truck was able to pick him up. Since today’s motorcyclist are too busy to stop and lend a hand to a stuck biker; one thing I always forget to tell people is that most motorcycle insurance companies (except AAA..and no biker should ever support AAA) have towing on their policies. It is an additional coverage, on my policy it is $5 per year. Generally, you pay the tow truck company with your credit card and you will be reimbursed for 100% of the cost, with no deductible, after submitting the bill to your insurance company. Just check with your agent, confirm you do have coverage and check on limitations. Towing coverage on your auto or motorcycle policies are generally far broader then what you get on those pre paid tow services and far less expensive.

That is my insurance lesson for the day.
