California Highway Patrol Lane Splitting Guidelines Update from ABATE of CA.

OFF THE WIRE
Note: If the 15/50 speed guidelines hold, then it is a win for CA riders!
That's executing the LS maneuver at a max speed of 65 MPH or (15 mph over the flow of traffic going at 50 mph).
** The head of the CMSP program told us in the March Advisory Committee meeting that he felt a legislator may come along one day and try to codify these guidelines into law. I tend to believe the Asst. Chief and recommend that the wearing of reflective gear be removed. **
California Highway Patrol Lane Splitting Guidelines Update from ABATE of CA.
CHP Special Projects Section provided a presentation to Executive management earlier this week concerning the proposed Lane Splitting Guidelines (attached). Your Lobbyists worked diligently to get the 15 MPH Minimum & 50 MPH High End included after many discussion and numerous meetings with the CHP.
CHP would like ABATE Legislative Committee and Board input - Chuck, Nick & Mark L. - please send out to Local Leg Committees to weigh in on this so we can discuss this at the Board Meeting and respond to the CHP by August 2, 2017.
