Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom is proposing a ballot initiative that would require a background check for anyone who buys ammunition.
That would make California the first state to require a background check before buying ammo.
He's also proposing that all large magazines be turned in and destroyed.
This could be on the state ballot next November.
