OFF THE WIRE
Stockton PD appears to be operating something that is so close to being a motorcycle only checkpoint, that it, in my *personal* opinion, may be breaking the law.

Motorcycle ONLY checkpoints, are now illegal in California, and Stockton PD appears to be attempting to create a loophole by kind of having a "roving checkpoint."

I would strongly caution them about this, and I would advise them to not violate our civil rights, under this pretend "safety" thing they are doing.

Make no mistake - they are operating a dragnet, with the clear intent of searching arresting bikers.

AB 1047 was introduced by Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries on Feb. 18, 2011. The bill prohibits law enforcement agencies from establishing checkpoints where the only vehicles subject to inspection are motorcycles. The Assembly passed AB-1047 by a vote of 55-5 on Jan. 17, and the Senate approved it on June 28 by a vote of 36-0.

The law will take effect on Jan. 1, 2013.
