Officers will be watching drivers -- regardless of vehicle-type -- for specific violations, especially those that can cause motorcycle-related accidents, including speeding, making illegal turns and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
According to the FVPD, in 2012, Fountain Valley saw 12 injury-motorcycle collisions with no fatalities,
Department officials add that, as the economy turns upward, motorists will drive more miles and more untrained novice motorcyclists will hit the road. The FVPD asks all motorists to be on alert and watch out for motorcycles, especially when turning and changing lanes.
