California Highway Patrol posts rules for legal lane-splitting by motorcyclists

Subject: California Highway Patrol posts rules for legal lane-splitting by motorcyclists

I’ve attached the Quick Guide – Lane Splitting Guidelines as well as the full version “Lane Splitting General Guidelines” that are mentioned in the article.  According to Jim Lombardo, our ABATE Lobbyist, someone plans to introduce legislation around February 28 to make lane-splitting against the law.  As it stands now, it is not illegal because there is no law prohibiting it.  There is nothing that states two vehicles cannot be in the same lane.

Stay tuned…if a bill is introduced, we will need your help writing letters, etc. when we have more details.
