Nevada - RENO, Nev.-A campus police officer from San Francisco
is testifying in Reno about the night he stumbled onto the lead suspect in a
manhunt for the killer of a high-ranking Hells Angels officer at a Nevada
casino.
Sgt. John Gutierrez testified during pretrial motions on Monday he suspected
Ernesto Gonzalez was burglarizing a car when he first spotted him leaning over
the front seat of a Chevy Malibu just blocks from university police headquarters
on Sept. 29, 2011.
Instead, the president of the rival Vagos chapter in Nicaragua eventually told the sergeant he was wanted and feared for his life-apparently convinced rival assassins were on his tail.
Gonzalez is accused of murdering the former president of the Hells Angels' chapter in San Jose. His trial is set for July.
