CA - Biker's marriage proposal shuts down highway, may result in felony charges

OFF THE WIRE
Los Angeles -- California Highway Patrol officials say a stunt where bikers blocked traffic on Interstate 10 east of Los Angeles for a marriage proposal may result in serious charges, and numerous traffic citations have already been issued.

Officer Vince Ramirez said investigators will now determine if the proposal resulted in violations worthy of felonies.

In videos posted to YouTube, hundreds of motorcyclists block four lanes of traffic and an off-ramp on a recent Sunday afternoon while the would-be groom burns out a "smoke bomb" tire that lets off a huge plume of pink smoke.

A man wearing a leather vest with the Subliminal 710 Bikerz insignia then got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend before the bikers rode away.

Police said they had seen other highway stunts, including some that resulted in massive traffic jams, but this was the first on-highway marriage proposal they had encountered.
