Biker gxxx expert Alex Caine tracks chilling turf war in new book

OFF THE WIRE
Alex Caine.

It’s only four words in a 258-page book.

In Alex Caine’s globe-trotting history of the 60-year war between The Hells Angels and The Outlaws biker gaxxx, Alberta doesn’t get all that much ink. But in the third-to-last paragraph, Caine does come to a somewhat chilling conclusion about the province’s future as a key territory in an ongoing war.

“The violence will come,” he writes.

It’s not particularly reassuring for those of us who live in Wild Rose Country. And when Caine shows up at the Calgary Herald as part of publicity rounds for his newest book, he certainly doesn’t soft pedal the idea. If anything, things have gotten worse for us in the short time since he penned the book. Alberta is sure to become the trenches in the continuing turf war between the two gaxxx. Just think of Alberta as Belgium in the First World War, he says.

“The trenches aren’t the objective, but they are what’s stopping one from moving in a given direction,” he explains. “The fight is going to start here with the backup forces in Kelowna, B.C. That’s where the Angels are amassing people too. The Outlaws are starting to amass in (Alberta) and the state of Washington.”

“Once it starts,” Caine adds, “the cops are relegated to picking up bodies. That becomes their job.”

There’s no doubt that Alex Caine, which is not his real name, has a flair for the melodramatic. But there’s also little doubt he knows what he is talking about. According to his author bio, Caine spends a lot of his time these days acting as an adviser on biker investigations and speaking at police conferences
Charlie and the Angels is his third book covering outlaw biker gaxxx, a dangerous world in which he lived off and on for 30 years.
