The mother of a bikini bar dancer who's been missing for about three weeks said she believes her daughter is staying with a motorcycle gang and that members of that group may have drugged her.
Susan Bird even said her daughter — 28-year-old Heather Bird — may be going by the name "Kitty."
"My daughter has been living a double life," Susan Bird said Friday at her home near Holly Hill. "She's been with them (the biker gang) for several months and I didn't know about it."
Heather Bird was an on-again-off again dancer at Cheaters Gentleman's Club, 1545 N. U.S. 1, where she went by the stage name "Cat."
The last time she was seen at the bikini bar was Aug. 28, police said.
The night before she disappeared, a family friend — Albert Surrat — dropped Heather Bird off at work and told police that she was "jittery" and "seemed to be on something," the missing persons report says.
An ex-boyfriend of Heather Bird's said she was known to go off for days at a time, "but never this long," Chad Selby said Friday afternoon.
Heather Bird and Selby have maintained a friendship and he said Susan Bird also told him of her suspicions regarding her daughter being with a biker gang.
"I think it's possible," Selby said, referring to Susan Bird's statements about a biker gang.
Susan Bird said she has been calling her daughter's cellphone but it goes to voicemail. The mother also said Heather Bird left all her clothing behind and her cat.
"I think she's gotten in over her head," Susan Bird said. "And she doesn't know how to get out."
Anyone with information concerning Heather Bird's whereabouts is asked to call Ormond Beach detective Apryl Andrasco, 386-676-3516.
