EUROPE - Seven Members of Outlaws Motorcycle Club Arrested

OFF THE WIRE
Seven members of the motorcycle club Outlaws were arrested in Hafnarfjörður and Mosfellsbær yesterday. Drugs and other items believed to have been stolen during burglaries in both the capital and the countryside were seized. Explosives were also found at the site in Mosfellsbær.

According to mbl.is , most of the arrested are in their twenties and are all connected to Outlaws.

The operation was carried out by the Reykjavík Metropolitan Police as well as the Suðurnes Police in the southwest in cooperation with the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police and customs authorities.

Last week, police raided an amphetamine factory in Reykjavík and a workshop in Hafnarfjörður. According to ruv.is , both premises were being used by the motorcycle club.

Police discovered an amphetamine factory in a garage in East Reykjavík yesterday afternoon. The landlord, a man in his forties, was arrested and taken into custody.

Police worked into the night to remove the chemicals and equipment from the garage. Experts from the University of Iceland and the capital area fire department assisted police with the operation. Police say that although they have no reason to believe that there is a risk of fire or explosion, they aren't taking any changes, Morgunblaðið reports.

The police drug squad and customs also raided a workshop in Hafnarfjörður around midday today. The workshop lies behind a house used by the motorcycle club Outlaws. According to ruv.is, the man arrested in yesterday's raid in Reykjavík is linked to the organization.
