The Rialto Police Department plans to have extra officers on duty this weekend to focus on motorcycle safety. Police will patrol areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes often occur. They will be looking for traffic violations made by riders or drivers that can lead to motorcycle crashes.
Officers will also be keeping an eye out for intoxicated motorcyclists or drivers.
The California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provided a grant for the operation.

A six-hour motorcycle safety enforcement in Visalia produced 24 citations being issued Tuesday night.
No drunken driving arrests were made. Visalia police said officers, between 5 and 11 p.m. Tuesday, patrolled areas frequented by motorcycle riders and where motorcycle crashes occurred. Officers, police said, were looking for drivers and riders who were under the influence of drugs or alcohol and cracking down on traffic violations that can lead to collisions.
During the safety detail, officers made 32 stops – four on motorcycles and 28 on vehicles. The 24 citations included three for being an unlicensed driver and one for driving on a suspended license.
Money for the detail was provided by the Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
