AUS - Bandidos bikie to face court over siege on Gold Coast

OFF THE WIRE
A PROBATIONARY member of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle club will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday over an eight-hour siege at a Gold Coast unit. The 24-year-old Ipswich man will face bodily harm, deprivation of liberty, firearm and drug charges.
The siege, which began about lunch time on Thursday, saw the Paradise Island resort at Surfers Paradise locked down, after a woman called police and told them she was being held against her will.
She was freed soon after, as special emergency response team officers with automatic weapons descended on the complex.
Several hours later a group of men believed to be Bandidos members arrived at a roadblock.
After the man in the unit waved a jacket with club colours at a window, one of the group was escorted inside by police.
Gold Coast police chief Superintendent Paul Ziebarth says the man surrendered peacefully and no weapon was found.
"I can confirm the man is a probationary member of the Gold Coast chapter of the Bandidos," he told reporters.
