POLICE turned up in Brunswick yesterday with their information van, seeking help from locals on yesterday's shooting near Barkly Square.
Whether they knew it or not, they set up right outside the headquarters of the Bandidos motorcycle gang. The shooting victim, Toby Mitchell, is a Bandidos member.
So close was the police information van that it's canopy was almost touching the clubroom wall.
Fortunately, somebody realised that, if you wanted people to step into the van and volunteer information, asking them to do it right outside the headquarters of a bikie gang, perhaps in the early stages of a bikie war, wasn't the best idea.
The van was quickly relocated around the block near the supermarket.
And while we're talking about the shooting, well done to the lateral thinker at the ABC who accompanied the shooting story with Vera Lynn singing aifA Nightingale Sang In Berkley Square aif.

JOHN, our clever business names reporter, is still up north and sent back these two offerings.
He found a clothing alterations business in Trinity Park called Sew Reliable, and a coffee shop in Manora called Cup And Away.
And John's understudy, Maria, likes the child minding centre in Kealba called Cradles To Crayons.
