Motorcycle officers issue 1,025 summons

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Motorcycle law enforcement officers across the Hampton Roads area took to the streets for their fourth annual multi-jurisdictional effort to curb speeding, reckless driving, and other life threatening behaviors while driving.
Virginia State Police said law enforcement efforts were extremely successful.
Project M.E.A.R., which stands for Motorcycle Enforcement Accident Reduction, produced 1,025 summonses in three days. This included two drug arrests, two firearms, and an assault on a police officer.
Participating agencies included the Virginia State Police, Chesapeake Police Department, Hampton Police Department, Newport News Police Department, Norfolk Police Department, Portsmouth Police Department, and Portsmouth Sheriff's Office.
