A man wanted in the fatal shooting of a member of Hells Angels at a funeral in San Jose remains on the run after police searched a home in Stockton.

San Jose police, backed up by armored police vehicles, surrounded a home in a residential Stockton neighborhood Saturday morning after getting a tip that suspect Steve Ruiz was hiding out inside.

The 38-year-old Ruiz is wanted in the fatal shooting of a fellow Hells Angel at a San Jose funeral on Oct. 15.

San Jose police Sgt. Jason Dwyer says after surrounding the house around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, officers later shot tear gas into the house.

When police eventually entered the home about 8 p.m., they found Ruiz was not inside.

Police aren't saying if they know where Ruiz might be heading, but say he may try to contact friends and relatives in New York and Arizona.
