TEXAS: Should motorcycle drivers be able to turn left on red?

OFF THE WIRE
by Kayla Welch

Motorcycle drivers in Kansas have been given the green light to turn left at red lights.
The Dead Red Law, which was signed by Governor Sam Brownback, takes effect for intersections across the state with sensors.
The sensors tell the light to change, but motorcycles aren't heavy enough to trigger it.

So, in the past, motorcycle drivers either had to wait for a heavier vehicle to come along, make an illegal turn on red, or turn right and make a u-turn.
Topeka police said they hope cyclists exercise patience and use the law as it is intended, and not it as an excuse to pull up, stop and then go.

Do you think a law like this would be beneficial to motorcycle drivers in Texas?
