OFF THE WIRE
KINGSTON, N.Y. — A party hosted by a motorcycle gang at an illegal nightclub in midtown Kingston ended with a melee that left three men hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
The Kingston Daily Freeman reports that the New Year's Eve party, attended by nearly 300 people, was held in a converted factory building. Violence broke out shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday.
Detective Lt. Timothy Matthews said two men from Newburgh were shot, one in the leg and one in the abdomen, and a Kingston man was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with a chest wound. A Poughkeepsie woman was pistol- whipped.
Matthews said a new tenant began renting the building several months ago and converted it into an illegal nightclub. He said no arrests were made but an investigation is continuing.
