POWAY,Ca: DUI and license checkpoint set

The Poway office of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department is targeting impaired drivers during a night of "saturation patrols" and a driving under the influence and driver's license checkpoint Friday evening.

The checkpoint will be conducted near the 11700 block of Poway Road.

"No matter what you drive or when, if deputies catch you driving impaired, you will be arrested," Sheriff Bill Gore said in a prepared statement. "No exceptions. We urge you to think before you drink and make safety part of your holiday plans."

Emphasis patrols in the city and surrounding area take place starting at 7 p.m. and continuing until about 3 a.m., according to a department news release.
