Taken from AAMVA “The Week in Review” December 20, 2010:

Now in Development: New Motorcycle Operator’s Manual and Knowledge Test

AAMVA’s Test Maintenance Subcommittee, in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is currently developing a new Motorcycle Operator’s Manual and knowledge test for jurisdictional use. The anticipated release of the new materials will be late summer or early fall of 2012. We are encouraging all jurisdictions to keep this date in mind as you plan for future printing and reproduction of your Motorcycle Operator Manuals. Prior to publication, AAMVA will oversee a one year pilot study (conducted by one jurisdiction) to evaluate, further refine and validate the manual and knowledge test. Limited funding is available and will be provided to the selected jurisdiction. If you are interested in conducting the pilot or need additional information, contact Karen Morton, Program Director of Driver Licensing at (703) 908-8268 or kmorton@aamva.org. Visit AAMVA's Web site for more information on Motorcycle Licensing.
