Stabbing Suspect Arrested More Than 50 Times
48-Year-Old Man Accused Of Killing Pedestrian 3 Months Ago

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --

A person suspected of stabbing a man at a south Nashville biker bar on Sunday night has a long rap sheet with Nashville police.

According to Metro police, the incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. at the Bikini Beach Bar on Antioch Pike. Witnesses told officers that a man was stabbed in the back during an altercation with another man.

The suspect, identified as David R. McCormick, 48, sped away from the scene on a motorcycle, they said. Based on a description from witnesses, officers were able to catch up with him near the state fairgrounds.

McCormick faces attempted murder and DUI charges. He was jailed Monday morning on a $220,000 bond. The stabbing victim is expected to make a full recovery.

Stabbing Suspect Has Long Rap Sheet

McCormick has been charged 56 times in the last 28 years with various crimes since 1982. His previous charges include eight DUI arrests, carrying a concealed weapon, drug charges, aggravated assault and taking officers on a high-speed chase.

Three months ago, McCormick was accused of killing a pedestrian while driving drunk on Old Hickory Boulevard. He went to jail, bonded out and that case is still pending.
