A Knoxville motorcyclist is being hailed as a Good Samaritan, after following a man who stole a woman's purse, and trying to get it back.
According to Knoxville Police, officers responded to a purse theft at the Walgreens at 5312 Clinton Highway Wednesday evening just after 6 pm.
Investigators say Curtis Smith saw the man running from the store with the stolen purse, and getting into a vehicle. Smith followed on his motorcycle. When the car was stopped at the red light at Merchants Road and Clinton Highway, Smith ran up to the passenger side window and demanded the victim's purse back. He then reached into the vehicle to grab the purse when the driver suddenly accelerated, knocking Smith to the ground and dragging him 15-20 feet. Smith received only minor injuries in the fall.
Officers tracked down the suspect's Geo Prism parked in the Tillery Ridge Apartments complex. Both suspect's, Samantha Terry, 22, and John Park, Jr, 22, were located in an apartment.
Investigators found the stolen purse in the property, along with additional property believed to have been stolen from a residential burglary earlier in the day in Knox County. Terry and park were charged with one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Theft. Additional charges could be placed on the suspects by the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
