Australia, Another man charged following investigations into shooting at Lakemba – Gangs Squad

OFF THE WIRE
Gangs Squad detectives have today charged another man following investigations into the shooting of a Hells Angels member outside a home at Lakemba, in Sydney’s south-west, in March last year.

A 29-year-old man was charged by police about 11am today, with conspiracy to murder and participate in a criminal group.

He was refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court on 23 November 2010.

Police allege the man is a member of the Comanchero Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG).

Today’s charges relate to the shooting of a Hells Angel member, who was fired upon a number of times as he sat in his car in the driveway of a Lakemba home on 29 March 2009.

Strike Force Mezen comprises detectives from the State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad and was established to investigate the shooting.

The incident happened days after the death of Hells Angels associate Anthony Zervas at Sydney Airport’s domestic terminal on 22 March 2009, following a brawl between Comanchero and Hells Angels OMCG members and associates.

To date, six people have been arrested by SF Mezen detectives.
