OFF THE WIRE
A man told police he was thrown into a van Tuesday morning, taken to a home and threatened, then maced when he tried to escape.

A woman in the 4000 block of Second Avenue called Wednesday afternoon and said a man was in her backyard bleeding and claiming to have been sprayed with mace. When police arrived, the man, Derek Ostrander, said about 7 a.m., several people hit him on the head and threw him in a van at his address.

When he awoke, he was surrounded by six members of the El Forasteros Motorcycle Club who threatened him for “using names” in connection with a fight several weeks ago, according to the police report.

Ostrander, 26, told police he jumped out the window, causing a cut to his arm, and ran to the yard where officers found him. He said he was maced as he jumped out the window.

He was taken to Mercy Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
