We have fought long and hard, and so far successfully against SB-435. This terrible bill is now ready to go into the Assembly Appropriations Committee, and we can try to convince them that this is an expensive and poorly planned bill, and should be stopped and dropped.

This is a bill that would cost California much more than it appears on the surface. The bill will require that motorcycle mufflers must be purchased almost exclusively from Original Equipment Dealers. There are only a few Aftermarket muffler companies that make mufflers for American motorcycles that carry the "magic label" required by SB 435, and none who make a muffler for Japanese and German bikes.
People who make and sell Aftermarket mufflers will be very quickly put out of business, and wil join the ranks of the One and One half Million Unemployed Californians. These new unemployed people will no longer pay taxes, they will apply for new unemployment benefits, paid for by our State, being unemployed the well spend less and harm the financial status of their neighborhoods. The business' they worked for will no longer contribute taxes to the State Treasury. SB-435 is TROUBLE ! It has changed its face four times in the last year.......what will it transition to next ??? I strongly urge you to STOP this bill in its tracks !
