VERMONT: Hey Folks, Hawger here

OFF THE WIRE
Hey Folks, Hawger here.
The rumors that have been circulating about ' illegal helmets ' are true.

It seems that the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles for the State of Vermont

has taken upon himself to 'add some specifics ' to the otherwise 'vague' and

' unspecific ' law that has been on the books seemingly forever. He notofied

law enforcement personnel by email several months ago. Evidently some time

was needed for the proper training of troops for helmet stops. Nice that he notified

the public in a timely fashion.LOL

Anyway, there are State Troopers as well as County Mounties and Local Leos

who are now going to stop, investigate, ticket and fine anyone with a 'suspicious'

helmet. If your helmet doesn't have a real DOT sticker, and doesn't measure up to

a set of prescribed standards -

I don't have those specifics right in front of me now, but I'll get them out ASAP.

I have heard of two stops resulting in fines of $150 (+)each and possible 'points' on your

drivers license (2). ( $75 for the illegal helmet and $75 for the fake DOT sticker is how

it was explained to me )

Pass the word along, especially if you know someone who doesn't have email.

We don't have to be part of the State of Vermont budget balancing act.

However, some of us will unwillingly have to be part of the economic stimulous activity

in buying a New - Legal - DOT approv'd brain bucket.

Be Safe,
