News13 spoke with Myrtle Beach city spokesperson Mark Kruea who said a second set of checks are also going out this week for interest on the fines. The city paid nearly $14,000 in fines and refunds for 141 tickets it issued when the helmet law was in effect. The law was dropped after a state Supreme Court ruling last month. The city also sent out an additional $869 dollars in interest fees on the tickets. The city was not required to do this.
