The First Annual "CAN YOU SEE ME NOW!" Motorcyclist Awareness Ride

Sunday, May 23, 2010
Beginning outside of Toby Keith's-I Love This Bar and Grill in Mesa
Ending at Greasewood Flat, North Scottsdale

Please join us SUNDAY, MAY 23, 2010 at 9:00 AM for the first annual "Can You See Me Now" motorcycle awareness ride. This event has been inititated locally by 2 Meet-Up. com motorcycle riding groups, the Phoenix Motorcycle Riding Group (PMRG) and the Phoenix Motorcycle Kruzers (PMCK).
Both of these riding groups had members that were involved in the tragic event on March 25, 2010 when 10 riders were rear ended while sitting at a traffic light on Carefree Highway in Phoenix. 4 died from their injuries while the others involved continue to recover. The driver of that truck was not paying attention and was under the influence of drugs at the time of the collision.

For the past 2 months, both groups have been extensively involved in many fund raising efforts and activities in order to generate and provide monetary assistance to the victims and families of that vehicular assault . Both ride groups are ready to move forward. This ride will conclude the group's efforts in the organized fund raising events, however the Victims and Families Fund will remain active. So many riders from throughout Arizona played an important part in that effort whether with time, money, or other valuable contributions. We hope that all of you will come together with us and help us move forward.

All riders know that more needs to be done to raise motorist awareness of the millions of motorcycles sharing U.S. roads each year. Many communities across the nation have experienced crashes resulting in serious rider injury or fatality due to inattentive, careless or unaware drivers. In fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2008, 47 percent of all motorcycles involved in fatal crashes collided with another type of motor vehicle.

As a rider, everytime you have thrown that leg across the saddle and headed out, you get first hand knowledge of how so many drivers are simply not paying attention. This ride is about getting out there and being as visible as you can. All we ask is that at least a few will get the message.

The idea of this ride started with the organizers of the 2 ride groups mentioned above. Since then, it has developed into an international ride event that has caught the attention of hundreds of Meet Up and other motorcycle clubs across the USA, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia and more coming on board as we speak. Join thousands of other riders on the same day in a united effort to deliver a very important message.

THIS RIDE IS OPEN TO ANY AND ALL MOTORCYCLE RIDING INDIVIDUALS, CLUBS, AND GROUPS. It's all about us, what we love to do, and we hope to inform others that when you drive any vehicle, your attention should always be concentrated on what your responsibility is. Put away that cell phone, leave the burger in the box, and the eye liner can wait until you are stopped.
