Dear Philip,
Meet Heroes Mark and Sunny Brogan |

It's a miracle that Mark Brogan survived
the attack that left him stretched out – still bleeding – on a street
in Iraq, but war's wounds are deep and lasting.
As
promised in my last e-mail, I plan to send you stories that show how
your gifts help disabled veterans, and Mark's story shows why every
disabled veteran is grateful for the way you reach out to heroes through the DAV.
Years
have passed since that tragic explosion . . . since doctors replaced
half of Mark's skull and told his wife that he might never walk or talk
again.
But it's still a day-to-day struggle, as you'll hear Mark and Sunny explain in their video.
Mark's sleeve covers his ravaged arm, Philip. You can't see his hearing loss or his wounded brain . . . and he's not alone:
- One in three troops returning from Afghanistan and Iraq suffers the impact of PTSD
- One in five lives with a traumatic brain injury (TBI)
The invisible wounds of war have turned
so many of these lives completely upside down! They've absolutely
crushed the hopes and dreams of so many families like Mark's.
That's why people like you are crucial as these young heroes struggle to reconstruct lives destroyed by war. Each time you give to the DAV, you lay down another building block in the life of someone who paid the price of freedom for you and me.
Thank you,
Philip!
