West Coast Thunder is ready to rumble.
This Memorial Day, upwards of 7,000 motorcyclists will pack the street of Indiana Avenue in Riverside, in front of Skip Fordyce Harley-Davison at 7688 Indiana Ave., to participate in the annual West Coast Thunder parade.
For now, the 14th year, the WCT XIV parade will travel first to the Riverside National Cemetery, down Sunnymead Boulevard in Moreno Valley and then on to the Soboba Casino’s outdoor arena for a tribute concert in honor of our veterans.
This year, we are honored to have Tim Chambers join WCT XIV. Tim is the “Saluting Marine” who makes annual news by standing at attention for the Rolling Thunder motorcycle parade in Washington, D.C., each year. Tim heard about WCT and will fly back from Washington on a red-eye flight after saluting Rolling Thunder on Sunday to honor WCT by saluting our Memorial Day parade, as well.
He will also be available to meet and greet at Soboba Casino’s outdoor arena for a tribute concert following the parade.
WCT is the largest single-day motorcycle event west of the Mississippi. For more information go to Tim’s website: www.leavenowarriorbehind.org
West Coast Thunder XIV’s motorcycle parade is the culmination of a full weekend of armed forces-themed activities that begins on Saturday, May 25, with a motorcycle Poker Run that will take participants from the Harley-Davidson dealership to the Wings & Rotors military aircraft museum.
From French Valley, the next stop will be the Riverside National Cemetery to observe the amazing monuments and memorials, then to Riverside’s Chili Cook-Off, Car & Cycle show before returning to Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson.
Sunday, May 26, will be Military Appreciation Fair at Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., booths and exhibits from the likes of AUSA, Blue Star Mothers, Moms of the Military, Support Our Troops, Wings & Rotors and Riverside County Veterans Services, among others, will be on display.
The Inland Empire — Harley Owners Group will also be hosting a barbecue for all attendees.
Stater Bros., 5-Hour Energy, KFRG (CBS Radio), Lucas Oil and MAVTV present this year’s tribute concert at the Soboba Casino’s arena. Headlining will be Black River entertainment artist and Army Ranger veteran, Craig Morgan, and back by popular demand, Elektra/All In recording artist, The Farm!
The City of Moreno Valley invites all our WCT participants to attend its Memorial Day sunset ceremony: Honoring Our Heroes. The festivities begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at City Hall at 14177 Frederick St. Riverside County Sheriff Stanley Sniff will be the keynote speaker.
Proceeds from the WCT ride registration and concert tickets benefit the Riverside National Cemetery Support Committee via West Coast Thunder (a 501 ©(3) non-profit corporation).
