BIKER CLUB PRESIDENT’S SENTENCE: 263 YEARS

OFF THE WIRE
A South Bay motorcycle club president has been sentenced to 263 years in prison for rapes involving two victims.

Superior Court Judge Richard Mills handed down the sentence Friday after a jury in October convicted 40-year-old Stephen Boyle of six felony counts of rape.

Boyle was president of the Grifters Motorcycle Club, which prosecutors described as an otherwise family friendly, service-oriented group.

Boyle kidnapped his victim during an annual motorcycle camping event in Warner Springs in October 2011, according to the District Attorney’s Office. He drove four miles away from the campsite and sexually assaulted her at knifepoint.

Additional investigation by police and prosecutors turned up two previous rapes committed by Boyle.

“The victims in this case suffered terribly at the hands of their rapist,” District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis said in a written statement. “They both demonstrated extraordinary bravery for coming forward to report the defendant.”
