Authorities in Palmdale seek Harley Davidson saddlebag thieves..
Authorities in Palmdale are seeking to halt a rash of thefts of saddlebags from Harley Davidson motorcycles they say occurred at multiple local businesses over the past month.
In three incidents the saddlebags were swiped while the motorcycles were parked outside and the owners were either working or exercising, according to a statement from the Palmdale sheriff’s station.
The thieves were able to remove the bags and, in a few instances, took motorcycle accessories also, authorities said.
Lt. Cory Kennedy of the Palmdale sheriff’s detective bureau said it seemed obvious that the thieves were familiar with these types of motorcycles because, though the equipment was bolted down, they were able to remove it "quickly and without being noticed."
Authorities are warning owners of Harleys to take precautions to ensure the safety of their bikes and equipment. Anyone with information about the thefts is encouraged to contact the Palmdale sheriff’s station at (661) 272-2506. Callers can remain anonymous, Kennedy said.
