NEVEDA - Man shot by sheriff's deputies in Pahrump

OFF THE WIRE
A man believed to be a member of a motorcycle club is in the hospital with gunshot wounds after shooting at Nye County sheriff's deputies on Saturday, authorities said.
Two deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence situation taking place at 4790 Manse Road in Pahrump, Nye County sheriff's officials said. The deputies found a man sitting in a chair next to the front gate of the property. The man, later determined to be a member of a motorcycle club called the Hessians, rose from the chair, aimed a large-caliber pistol at the deputies and fired multiple times at one of them.
The deputies, whose names have not been released, returned fire and struck the man several times, authorities said.
"What we do in these situations is ask people to show their hands and drop their weapons," Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo said. "Ultimately, if they're going to point a gun at a deputy, we train our deputies to survive."
DeMeo said he did not think the shooting was tied to the Hessians Motorcycle Club, but he said members of the group have pulled weapons on his deputies in the past.
The injured man was taken by helicopter to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. His condition is unknown.
DeMeo said the investigation is ongoing.
