ABATE of Wisconsin Issues a "National Call to Action"

Motorcycle Groups Unite to Fight Federal Regulations
On June 23rd in front of an enthusiastic group of motorcyclists from across the country, ABATE of Wisconsin Executive Director Ric Mellon issued a "National Call to Action" for motorcyclists to unite for the impending battle against freedom-busting federal regulations. "You're going to start hearing about the Center for Disease Control who has picked up the traditional Department of Transportation duties as well as the insurance and medical communities," he declared. "They are going to start pushing for mandatory helmets, road-side checkpoints and conspicuity clothing along with surveillance technology to protect us. And when that doesn't work, they will go after the very thing we love - Our motorcycles!" ABATE of Wisconsin's "Call to Action" is already achieving results as they have received organizational support from the Motorcycle Riders Foundation, the St. Croix Valley Riders and several Motorcycle Clubs.
For years, motorcycle rights organizations have fended off attacks from the government agencies in charge of our roadways. Agencies such as the Department of Transportation, the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration and other bureaucracies have tried to implement helmet laws, motorcycle only road-side checkpoints and other such measures to restrict motorcyclists' freedoms. They have been largely ineffective up to now because of the strong lobbying power of motorcycle rights organizations such as ABATE of Wisconsin.
ABATE of Wisconsin, Inc. which was founded in 1974 is a motorcycle rights and safety organization dedicated to "Freedom of the Road." ABATE of Wisconsin's goal is to give the motorcyclists of Wisconsin a strong, united voice with regard to their future, their way of life, their safety, and their legal rights as motorcyclists and citizens.
