Clyde Major Thompson, third from right, was known was "Wild Dogg" in the Black Sabbath Motorcycle Club, of which he was president. He was killed in a drive-by shooting in San Diego on Friday night.
Police are looking for the suspect who slayed the president of a San Diego bike club on Friday.
The U-T San Diego reports that 51-year-old Clyde Major Thompson of the Black Sabbath Motorcycle Club was shot in a drive-by at the corner of Market and Denby streets in the Mt. Hope area.
Officers who responded to reports of a shooting at 10:50 p.m. on Friday found Thompson wounded in the street. He died less than an hour later at a nearby hospital.
San Diego police say Thompson and a friend had been working on a bike when a young black passenger in an SUV wearing a hooded jacket and black shirt opened fire.
John Bunch, the national president of Black Sabbath, said that his club's members have traditionally been servicemen and tradesmen.
"We don't have a motorcycle club that has a reputation for trouble," he told the U-T. "So we can't imagine who would have the need or the desire to hurt one of our members."
Thompson's clubhouse name was Wild Dogg. He was survived by his girlfriend and two daughters.
The L.A. Times reports that police are still looking for the suspect and a motive.
