WE SUPPORT HB4860 We finally got our bill filed to exempt the owners of the property where the Cycle Rider Safety Training Program (CRSTP) classes are held and it is set for the Executive committee on Thur, March 8th at 1pm. The bill link is below. Read amendment #1 http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/fulltext.asp?DocName=&SessionId=84&GA=97&DocTypeId=HB&DocNum=4860&GAID=11&LegID=64739&SpecSess=&Session=  The executive Committee is made up of some very good friends and their link is below http://www.ilga.gov/house/committees/members.asp?committeeID=889  Click on each member and you will get their office ph # Call your reps that are on this committee, call them all. The Trial Lawyers are against it as the bill stands now but we are trying to sit down with them and work out their concerns. Talking points are that: (1) Landowners of potential sites for the CRSTP are afraid of frivolous lawsuits that stem from the CRSTP even though the program has its own insurance and there are not very many law suits from the program (2) We are trying to get more sites lined up for the spring & early summer season as classes fill up in just a few hours after the date of release. Chicago/Cook County and the "Collar Counties" and the Metro East St. Louis are examples of those that fill up quickly. (3) More early classes mean less "turn away's" from the program which could help lower accidents, injuries, and deaths on our roadways. (4) We have the money in reserve to fund more sites and we need to use that money for what it was intended for. Bob Myers State Legislative Coordinator ABATE of Illinois, Inc.
