AUSTRALIA - More police resources to fight bikie crime

OFF THE WIRE
South Australian Police are making drastic changes in the way they combat bikies, 7News reports.

The first to feel the changes will be the specialist squad known as 'Operation Mantle'.

The group targets drug crime, and is tasked with identifying where clandestine drugs labs are, and then dismantling them.

Operation Mantle will now be expected to focus its resources on bikies and 7News reports they have already been given a list of gxxg members' details in their area.

Officers are now expected to follow the members listed, observing who they associate with and pulling them over while driving in a bid to 'turn up the heat'.
7News understands it will affect around 40 Operation Mantle officers based at Adelaide, Port Adelaide, Elizabeth, Christies Beach and Sturt police stations.
