Ventura County Superior Court Judge Charles Campbell sentenced Hells Angel Aaron McIntosh to 120 months in prison today for stealing a motorcycle belonging to former Hells Angel James David Ivans, Jr. McIntosh had also convicted of “committing a criminal felony while participating in a criminal street gang.” He had faced a possible sentence of 164 months.
In an interview with the Ventura County Star McIntosh’s lawyer, Anthony Zinnanti, said McIntosh “could be out of prison in 30 to 36 months.” Judge Campbell refused Zinnanti’s motion for a new trial. Zinnanti also asked that McIntosh be enrolled in drug rehabilitation.
The convicted man is expected to appeal.
Ivans
McIntosh has been in custody since he was arrested in September 2010 following what police called a “routine traffic stop.” At the time he was riding a motorcycle that had been reported stolenIvans has been identified in public documents as cooperating witness number one in the ongoing federal case against former Ventura Hells Angels Motorcycle Club President George Christie. Ivans, a former member of the Red Devils and the Hells Angels, was charged with extortion, possession for sales of methamphetamine and possession of a deadly weapon in September 2008.
According to the prosecutor in the case, Tate McCallister, McIntosh took Ivans motorcycle after Ivans left the Hells Angels on “bad terms.” The prosecutor described McIntosh as a “bold and proud” member of the Hells Angels and a danger to the community. “Our goal here is to protect the people of Ventura County from the Hells Angels and this defendant,” the prosecutor said.
