Eddie Hall, an East Bay Paratransit van driver suspected of intentionally running over a motorcyclist on Interstate 580 in San Leandro on Oct. 22, 2011.

SAN LEANDRO -- The motorcyclist who police say was intentionally run over and killed by the driver of a paratransit van on Interstate 580 in San Leandro was identified today as 51-year-old George Lopez Jr. of Stockton.
Lopez was riding his motorcycle east on I-580 near Grand Avenue in San Leandro with members of the Hells Angels when an East Bay Paratransit van swerved into their lane about 4 p.m. Saturday, police said. Authorities would not say whether Lopez was a member of the Hells Angels.
The van's driver, Eddie Hall, 31, of Oakland, apparently intended to hit the group, police said without elaborating on a possible motive. The van was not carrying any passengers.
Lopez was knocked from his bike and fell into the path of the van, which dragged him along the pavement, police said.
The van pulled to the freeway shoulder near the 150th Avenue on-ramp, Lopez's motorcycle still wedged underneath, police said. Hall tried to flee but was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder and felony hit-and-run.
