County officials agreed to pay a $450,000 settlement in a lawsuit brought by a Stockton couple mistakenly arrested and charged for a murder they did not commit.
The suit was brought by Mark Lee Ewing and Heather Marie Ewing, who were arrested after a brawl outside a bar on Country Club Boulevard in 2004. A 22-year-old, Mark Donahue, was stabbed to death.
Two members of the Jus Brothers Motorcycle Club were arrested, but not before the Ewings spent a week in jail.
Frank Prater was convicted of second-degree murder in 2006. Robert Memory was convicted of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter for stabbing two other men during the same altercation.
The settlement was approved without discussion Tuesday at a meeting of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors.
Earlier this year, the city of Stockton agreed to pay a $550,000 settlement with the Ewings in the same case.
