'Weed Man' Sues For The Right To Beg For Pot

OFF THE WIRE
After six arrests, being doused with pepper-spray, and enduring other police harassment, 30-year-old Joshua Long, or the "weed man" of Times Square, is lawyering up to defend his right to beg for pot money, according to USA TODAY.
Long claims carrying his sign, which says "Help! I need money for weed", is within his First, Fourth, and 14th Amendment rights, and that his repeated arrests violates them.
Matthew Brinckerhoff, Long's lawayer, told The Daily News that the police are in the wrong.
"He certainly has the right to stand on the sidewalk and ask for money," Brinckerhoff told the publication.
"I can only conclude that the police don't like his message."
