OREM, Utah - Cop impersonator jailed for child porn

OFF THE WIRE
The mother of a victim told police she was fooled into believing the suspect was a real police officer

OREM, Utah — A man impersonating a police officer lured young girls into his home to video tape them while using his bathroom, according to police.

David Morris Richards was arrested and sent to jail after a neighbor’s friend — who is associated with Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) — alerted police to suspicious activity, ABC 4 reported.

Richards reportedly lured girls to his home with candy, gave them juice and water to drink, and photographed and videotaped them while they used his bathroom.

Richards had been friendly with neighbors in the area, and police say many believed he was a Utah Highway Patrol Trooper.

The mother of one of the victims told police she thought Richards was a real police officer, and a teen boy who sometimes did homework at Richards’ house said Richards showed him a badge.

Police say four victims, whose names have not been released, have come forward, and there could be more.
