Lt. Charles Moore, commander of the Bel Air Barrack for Maryland State Police, said earlier that troopers chased two motorcyclists at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour on July 20.
At about 1:36 a.m. that day, a Maryland State Police trooper captured on radar two motorcycles at high speeds on the Route 1 Bypass south of Route 924, according to an earlier state police report of the incident.TFC Jon Sawa and TFC James Davis followed one onto Route 543 and one north on Route 1.
The rider on Route 543, a 31-year-old man, peacefully surrendered while the other rider allegedly continued driving erratically and weaving up Route 1 at speeds of 85 to 100 mph, according to police.
The rider allegedly threw metal studs onto the road in attempt to puncture patrol cars' tires.
The motorcycle crossed the Conowingo Dam into Cecil County, where troopers ultimately caught up with him at the intersection with Rowlandsville Road.
The man allegedly also tried to take Sawa's firearm from him.
On Thursday, Moore said he did not want to discuss the circumstances of the incident in any more detail, explaining it remains under investigation.
Moore confirmed that the second rider, whom he also would not identify, was cited for traffic violations after he surrendered and was allowed to go by the troopers.
