New Zealand - Wanganui District Council voted on Monday to start the process of creating a new bylaw to ban gang patches in the city and the rest of the district.

OFF THE WIRE
Wanganui District Council voted on Monday to start the process of creating a new bylaw to ban gxxg patches in the city and the rest of the district.
Last year, the Hells Angels motorcycle gxxg successfully asked the High Court to revoke the bylaw, which forbids anyone showing symbols of membership or support for a gang in public.
The council now says it will ask the Government to help with the legal and financial aspects of a new bylaw.
It also wants the Government to introduce laws banning gxxg insignia nationwide.
The council says it wants a local ban in place by September.
