Shooting at motorcycle club leaves 1 dead, 2 injured
MARION — One man was killed and two others injured when a fight at an after-hours party broke out and spilled into the street early Sunday morning.
None of the three men were members of the two motorcycle clubs hosting the party at 126 S. Main St., said Maj. Bill Collins of the Marion Police Department.
Undenied Ryders Motorcycle Club is the name of the group police knew of locally, and they have been in Marion for a couple years, he said.
“We haven’t had any problems from them before,” he said.
Earlier this week, police received a bulletin that announced an out-of-town club, called Wheels of Soul, was having a regional meeting in Marion at the club house on March 5.
“We kept an eye up there, ran some out of town cars, and then this all broke lose,” he said.
The fight broke out around 3:30 a.m. and started inside the bar, then spilled outside into the street.
The victims appeared to have gunshot and stab wounds, and the 32-year-old man who died was found lying on the sidewalk outside the club. Police are withholding his name pending notification of family members.
The other two victims, a 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, were brothers. The Marion Star does not publish the names of victims of crime.
Both men were listed in critical condition at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Collins guessed that there were at least 100 people at the party.
Motorcycle club members and non-members most likely were involved in the shooting, he said.
Officers were interviewing a couple people at the police station Sunday morning, but nobody has been charged yet from the incident.
