Australia - Perth Police raid Rock Machine bikxx property

OFF THE WIRE

WA Police Inspector Paul McMurtrie displays guns and drugs allegedly seized from the Rock Machine bikie motorcycle club in Perth.

A 42-year-old man, believed to be a senior member of the Rock Machine bikie gang, has been arrested after a police raid on the group's clubhouse in an industrial area in the Perth suburb of Myaree.
Police allegedly seized 34 detonators during the raid and also found 54 sticks of a powerful gel explosive, commonly used in the mining industry, while searching a gang member's car at the McCoy Street premises.
Police say a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition were also confiscated during last night's raid.
Inspector Paul McMurtrie from the Serious and Organised Crime Squad says no charges have been laid at this stage.
"The tension between the Rock Machine and a rival gang are well documented and there is no intelligence to suggest that this group has anything planned against the general community," he said.
"Our early intervention last night demonstrated that we may have averted a serious criminal incident but I won't speculate on what that could have been."
