The Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan, says the removal of heavy fortification at a Perth bikie clubhouse will enable police to respond more effectively to organised crime activities.
Members of the Coffin Cheaters bikie gang have four weeks to remove fortifications at their Bayswater clubhouse before police forcibly remove them.
Last year police applied to the Corruption and Crime Commission to serve a fortification warning notice on the club.
Mr O'Callaghan says lawyers for the Coffin Cheaters have indicated the gang will comply with the directions.
"What they actually have to do is remove the railway sleepers from the front and side of the perimeter fence which in some parts is two metres high so that's got to go, security and surveillance cameras, sensor beams, and solid core internal and external doors," he said.
Mr O'Callaghan says the legal win sends a clear message to organised crime groups.
He says forcing the removal of the fortifications is one strategy in managing organised crime.
"Because they're premises which we believe are kept for unlawful purposes we need to be able to get in their quickly and conduct things like searches so it's not the strategy it's just one thing which enables us to respond to the problem of organised crime better, quicker and more effectively and obviously get convictions which is what we want to do," he said.
