The Vietnam and Legacy Veterans Motorcycle Club, Art Oliver, president, recently held its 16th Annual Bikers Ball at the Parkway Plaza Hotel. It was attended by over 1,000 patriotic bikers and friends. All of the net proceeds, as is their tradition, were donated to a local veterans cause. This year they honored the H.J. Leik Chapter 1 of the Disabled American Veterans, and their Auxiliary, based in Casper.

A memorial service being held Saturday morning in New Jersey for Bordentown resident and soldier Benjamin Moore who was killed in action last week in Afghanistan. Moore was the first casualty from New Jersey in Afghanistan in 2011. His fueneral will be held Saturday morning at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bordentown.
The Westboro Baptist Church has issued a bulletin identifying PFC Moore’s funeral to preach their message which is “Thank God For IED’s”. The zealots of the WBC will be met by the Patriot Guard Riders whose purpose is to shield the families of fallen soldiers from the insensitive and provocative protests of the WBC. They will be forming a flag line at the request of Moore’s family at the Friday night service and Saturday morning service.
Spc. Benjamin G. Moore, 23, of Robbinsville, N.J., died Jan. 12, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y. Moore was a 2006 graduate of Bordentown Regional High School and was a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician with the Hope Hose Fire Co. in his hometown. He was assigned to a unit home-based at Fort Drum, N.Y. Moore’s father, Patrick, said his son was deployed to Afghanistan in April 2010 and had spent the recent Christmas holiday with his family. The war in Afghanistan has taken the life of a soldier from Bordentown, New Jersey.
