The springlike weather that rolled into Southern California this past weekend continued on Monday, with high temperatures in the 70s throughout most of the Southland.
Despite the warm weather, temperature records were not broken in the San Gabriel Valley and Whittier areas. In 2006, the Valley roasted in 91-degree heat on Jan. 17, according to The Weather Channel.
However, National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Kennedy said records fell in Needles, along the Colorado River, and Bishop, in the Owens Valley.

The 77-degree weather in Whittier brought families out to enjoy Martin Luther King Jr. Day with picnics and outdoor activities.
"This is some crazy weather we're having," said Whittier resident Alina Campbell, 32, as she was preparing a picnic for herself and her two children.
"I enjoy the rain and miss it, but I do not mind the heat as long as it does not become overwhemling," Campbell said.
"I'm enjoying this nice weather right now," said Whittier resident Sylvia Aguilar, 47.
