Two men were killed and five others wounded in a shooting early Sunday at a motorcycle club on the South Side.
The shooting happened at a motorcycle club on the 100 block of West 75th St. about 1:40 a.m., according to police.
Police said there were a total of seven victims -- two dead and five wounded -- and the wounded included three men and two women.
The dead were 38-year-old Emmitt Suddoth, of the 9500 block of South Union Avenue and an unidentified man believed to be in his 20s, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Suddoth was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 2:28 a.m., and the other man was dead on the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office. They were shot at 149 W. 75th St., according to the medical examiner’s office.
The shooting may have been preceded by an altercation between the shooter and one or more members of the club, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said, but as of about 7 a.m. Sunday police were still trying to piece together just what happened and why.
Preliminary information from fire department reports were that in addition to the man dead on the scene, two victims were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, two were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and one was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Joe Roccasalva. The five who were transported to hospitals were adult males, in serious to critical condition, he said.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
